Ice Climbing: One of the best ice climbing areas in the whole of France is in theIce Climbing in the French Alps through La Grave The Skiers Lodge. Oisans Region, between Bourg d´ Oisans and La Grave. In the immediate vicinity, just west of La Grave on the RN 91 is Malaval.

This is a major area with numerous cascades on either side of the road, varying from 40 meters to 600 meters in length and grade IV to VI in difficulty. Approach times of 2 minutes to 1 hour provide further incentive, if that be needed.

The climbs are too numerous to mention individually, but several are quite outstanding. Moulins (V) and Caturgens (V) are both 600 meters, the longest in France. Pride of place for difficulty must go to La Pisse (250 VI) which we believe has only been climbed once in 1985.

From St Christophe, the Vallon de Diable is accessible in 2 to 3 hours with big serious routes. Our guides will be pleased to arrange 2 - 5 day program, from beginners to advanced. From 20th December 2003 to end of February...

Alpine & Rock Climbing: La Grave is a truly traditional alpine village dating back to the 12 th Alpine and Rock Climbing in the French Alps through La Grave The Skiers Lodge.century with a long and respected reputation as a centre of alpinism. It is on the northern boundary of the largest National Parc in France, `Le Parc des Ecrins´. The massif has famous peaks named La Meije, Mont Pelvoux, Mont Olan and L´Ailefroide.

Dome des Ecrins is the only 4000 mtrs peak in the region. It was here, in the later half of the 19 th century, that early mountaineering pioneers, accompanied by both native and Chamonix Guides, came to conquer the summits and seek new challenges. Gaspard de La Meije, a local guide made the first ascent of La Meije in 1877, the last major peak to be conquered in the Alpes .

Today it attracts the knowing mountain lovers who wish to scale the summits, experience the freedom, escape the masses, and explore a new different world. La Grave has retained all of its character, a character dominated by centuries of a severe existence at the foot of the peaks and faces of the `Haute Romanche´. In the region you find multi pitch rockclimbing in the Cerces, Ailfroide and La Berarde.

Aiguille de Dibona is one of the most spectacular multipitch rock summits in high altitude but you can find numerous easier multipitch climbs in the area. We offer introduction courses for alpine, glacier travel, glacier rescue and rockclimbing. Personalized instruction& guiding for all ages and abilities with accredited guides
