Guiding At 'La Chaumine'
At the The Skiers Lodge we offer guided off-piste skiing on La Meije massif
with its lift assisted access
to 2150 vertical mtrs (7050 vertical feet) of unmanaged, undamaged
glaciated alpine ski terrain. Each morning after breakfast we take one of
the Lodge vans to catch the first lift as it opens...
Every guest receives and wears an avalanche transceiver, we instruct you
in its
use. We ski in small groups
to achieve an ideal balance of ability thus ensuring everyone is skiing to
their maximum safe level.
Groups get organised according to ability the night before so that we can
be the first on the mountain. All skiers are guided at `La Chaumine´.
We book guests by the week.
All our Guides are qualified IFMGA/UIAGM (International High Mountain Guides).
They speak English, French, Swedish and German.

Our Guides hold the highest
internationally recognised qualification for instruction and guiding in rock
and ice climbing,
mountaineering and off-piste skiing
and ski touring, the coveted IFMGA carnet.
This badge, recognised throughout the mountain world is your guarantee of
their professional training and competence in all aspects of mountaineering
and client
care.
Our membership of the International Union of Associations of Mountain Guides
(IFMGA ), followed, along with increased training and rigorous assessment.
This membership, shared at present with guides from sixteen other countries,
gives all the Guides at The Skiers Lodge absolute equivalence with Guides
in Alpine countries and throughout the world.
The award
of the International Guides Carnet demands the highest standards of skill
and professionalism in all aspects of mountaneering.
